We love The Garden Shed – Mt Eden, we haven’t as yet made there for dinner but we’re regulars for lunch and brunch. The coffee is barista perfection, the food and service always memorable. Seasonal menu offerings, crafted with fresh, local ingredients, create a delightful and enticing variety. We love the Garden themed setting which gives a restful, relaxed ambiance. Pick from dining indoors, outdoors or in the covered courtyard space.

in the last weekWe went here for dinner last night and it was such a great choice. We shared one of the platters along with some squid and a salad — it was so much food that we couldn’t even finish it all. Everything was fresh, tasty, and really well put together. It’s the kind of place that makes a mid-week dinner out feel easy and satisfying, especially when you don’t feel like cooking. Relaxed atmosphere, generous portions, and good value. We’ll definitely be back.

in the last weekFour years later, on January 2nd, 2026, I reunited here with eight friends. The food was still good, but the atmosphere was different. The waiters were unsmiling and as cold as ice. One of the men at the cashier was particularly annoyed when we paid, his face long and he didn't even say thank you! It was a completely different world from the warm hospitality we received last time. I don't know if the owner has changed, but I just feel that this kind of unprofessional and unfriendly service has no place in New Zealand. That day was New Year's Day, and the cafe across the street was packed, while this place, with its quiet and pleasant environment, had about a third of the seats empty. The owner should look into the reasons!
