Nelson Market is the perfect place to grab a coffee and take a stroll through the market while looking at local crafts, hand made items (jewellery, accessories and artisan food product) and fresh produce. You’ll find vendors like Neudorf Mushrooms, well-known for their fresh fungi, and the award-winning Cranky Goat artisan cheese. These stalls showcase the best of local craftsmanship and flavors.
Nelson Market has been a staple since 1978, fostering community spirit and showcasing the region’s crafts and produce. It has grown into a beloved weekend activity for both locals and tourists.
We always like to stock up on some local honey and have some breakfast there too if we have time. Nelson is famous for their Saturday market but they also have a smaller version on Wednesdays too (as per photos as shown). During spring, look for freshly-picked asparagus, while summer brings sweet berries. Each season offers different delights, ensuring every visit is a fresh experience. Well worth a stop through if you’re about especially on Saturdays.
Arrive early for the best selection and to avoid the midday crowd. Parking is available nearby; consider using local transportation for ease and convenience.

a month agoVery entertaining to wander around. It's large enough to keep you there for an hour or two. I've just been there today, and it's much busier than last summer. This time I bought NZ honey. Yum...

3 months agoThis fun market is held on Saturday mornings. While there are mostly vegetables, fruits, and processed foods, there are also stalls selling clothing, accessories, and interior furniture. There were also stalls selling clothing made from remade kimonos and takoyaki (octopus balls) lol. The seasonal shirasu (whitebait) omelet and hot cheese sandwich were delicious!
