Wow & wow, not to be missed on a nice day is Cable Bay Vineyard. Sit on a bean bag out on the lawn and ahead lays before you the Auckland of City over the Hauraki Gouf.
Cable Bay is situated on the stunning west coast of Waiheke Island and includes vineyards, the winery, olive groves, organic gardens, two restaurants, private event spaces and a cellar door.
Cable Bay Vineyard was established in 1996. Over the years, it has grown to become a celebrated destination for premium wines and exquisite dining.
In 2013, Cable Bay opened the wine bar and added the Verandah restaurant with an outdoor kitchen and wood-fired oven offering Mediterranean inspired food.
Guests can enjoy a menu that changes with the seasons, showcasing locally sourced ingredients. This ensures a fresh and memorable culinary experience with every visit.
Cable Bay produces premium hand crafted wines reflective of the terroir from the tow of our estate-owned vineyards located on Waiheke Island and in Marlborough. Both vineyards are accredited with New Zealand Sustainable Winegrowing and select vineyards are organic under the BioGro program.
The vineyard employs meticulous hand-picking and low-intervention winemaking techniques, ensuring each bottle mirrors the unique terroir and climate of the region.
The vineyard offers a selection of award-winning wines, including Sauvignon Blanc, Chardonnay, Syrah, and Pinot Noir, which have been praised for their complexity and elegance.
If you get the chance there is also the Cable Bay Villa available to stay in https://cablebay.nz/stay/
Visitors can partake in guided tours of the vineyard, enjoying behind-the-scenes insights into the winemaking process and tasting sessions.

in the last weekGreat wines and lovely location.

in the last weekStunning view. As far as the organization and how to run a restaurant - whoever is running this wonderful place - there is a lot to learn. Very courteous overall, a lot of “sorry” and a lot of mistakes. The waiters seems to be on the first day on the job. Wine was lukewarm, food was average with the exception of the kingfish. Oysters were not available because “didn’t look good”.

in the last weekI visited Waiheke for a quick meal. It was a busy lunchtime, so there was a bit of a wait. Overall, the food was delicious. The vegetarian gnocchi was delicious, and the Reserve Sauvignon Blanc that came with it was also satisfying. Perhaps because it was a peak hour visit, I felt a bit disappointed with the customer service and table service upon arrival. I hope they continue to improve!
