Hotel d’Urville has been created for modern people who crave something original, different and magical. No two rooms are alike in the 10 boutique hotel and the individual flavour of each is captured in an eclectic mix of four-poster beds, exotic fabrics and antiques.
The building hosting Hotel d’Urville has its roots in the early 20th century, showcasing distinctive Art Deco architecture. Originally built as a public building, it has been beautifully preserved to retain its historic charm while integrating modern comforts, reflecting a rich heritage that enhances the boutique experience.
You can pick from the many room choices but here’s a few examples that we liked:
The Raja Room – The romance of travel in the Far East in days of old is recreated through fiery red walls, a king size four poster bed, accented by brass ornaments and carved panels
The Venus Room – Named after the Venus de Milo – it is a little known fact that Dumont d’Urville actually discovered the original statue in Greece – this is the suite for romantic indulgence.
The Nautical Room – Bold stripes, weathered wood and a classic blue and white theme, this is coastal chic here in Marlborough. A king suite to enjoy and relax on the couch or work at the captains desk.
While at Hotel d’Urville why not make a stop at Mollies Bar & Eatery for an unforgettable dining experience with fine food, wonderful wines and excellent service. At Mollies they create imaginative menus serving the best local produce, complemented by excellent local wines from Marlborough, New Zealand and around the world.
If you’re looking for a place to relax for the evening there’s also the Bamboo Tiger Cocktail Bar which is a 1930’s Asian fusion Jazz & Cocktail lounge will tick all your boxes. Great tunes, vibrant staff, elegant decor and exquisite cocktails with live music* Tues-Sat 4pm – late.
Guests can enjoy various amenities, including a serene garden area perfect for unwinding, and a cosy library featuring local literature. Whether seeking relaxation or inspiration, these spaces offer a perfect retreat, enhancing the overall stay with their distinctive character and thoughtful touches.

in the last weekIt is a fantastic hotel with a lot of Charme (and some disadvantages, that come with it, like no elevator). Each room seems to be designed individually and is very spacious. It might be hard to renovate/use a building as old as this one as a hotel, but they have made a great job. The bar is a fantastic addition to it and we loved to hang out there in the evenings, which brings us to the issue of location: the area around the hotel seems to be the central area of Blenheim but it was … I would use the word “dead”. It might have been the day when we arrived, but I have never seen such an empty place. It got better the day after, so it might just been bad luck. But even the, Blenheim does not seem to be a place to spend your vacation. Sorry to say that. Back to the hotel: we loved it. There was complementary port, which added a nice touch. Parking spots are available but might fill up (too) fast and it is hard to get a space on the street. It is all paid parking.

4 months agoI like chain hotels, so was a little weary when my wife booked this boutique hotel. I was wrong, we had a very nice stay the rooms were quirky, clean and generous. Staff could not have been more accommodating. Location was excellent. Would happily stay again.
