The Wither Hills story began with one man, a local winemaker to the area. For him, it wasn’t a desire for fame and fortune, but a passion to craft the very best wine from Marlborough’s beautiful natural surroundings. Since the first vintage in 1994, this remains unchanged.
Taking the Wither Hills name from the landmark Wither Hills range that borders our vineyards, their philosophy is founded on the belief that the finest wines are always created from exceptional vineyards, representing their sense of place.
Wither Hills Winery is also dedicated to sustainability, implementing practices like organic vineyard management and energy-efficient technologies. These efforts reflect their commitment to nurturing the land and producing wines in harmony with nature, highlighting their dedication to long-term environmental care amid the stunning landscapes that surround their vineyards.
If you’re looking for a lunch spot, Wither Hills Restaurant has a locally inspired menu which perfectly complements Whiter Hills award-winning wines.
If you have the chance, take a look downstairs to see the stunning barrel room and zip up to the top of the staircase to a viewing platform which offers looks the Marlborough plains. We didn’t stop for a wine tasting this time at the cellar door but we did enjoy having lunch on the deck of the sunny courtyard.
Wither Hills winery is famous in New Zealand and it’s based in an awe-inspiring building, definitely worth the stop if you have the time.

4 weeks agoMy wife Lisa and I enjoyed a very lovely and relaxed evening meal. Beautiful food that was tasty with wonderful flavours. I had a glass of stunning Pinot Noir. Service was warm, welcoming, friendly from when we arrived and throughout the evening. Nice one Felicity! We will be back.

a month agoWither Hills is one of those special places that has a certain feeling and atmosphere like you have been transported to another place and even better it’s right on our doorstep. As soon as we walked up the stairs we were greeted with a beautiful display of lights. The large open fire inside provided warmth on the cold winter evening. The staff were extremely friendly and attentive, the food was beautiful with decent portions. I especially enjoyed the crispy chicken entree - absolutely delicious. We thoroughly enjoyed our evening and will definitely be back :)
